Get Out: Your Guide to the Weekend

A school fundraiser, flea market, library anniversary celebration and James Durbin are all on the agenda this weekend.

Where/When: Nickelodeon Theatre, 210 Lincoln Street, Santa Cruz. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Films start at various times.

Where/When: Scotts Valley Hilton, 6001 La Madrona Dr. Friday, 6 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley Middle School will be holding a fundraiser that will include wine and beer tastings, food pairings, music, a raffle and silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the school.

Price: $65

Ivy’s Porch Flea Market

Where/When: Ivy’s Porch, 5311 Scotts Valley Dr. Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley’s unique “cottage style collective” run by 12 local women will be hosting a flea market. Vintage items, glassware, jewelry, collectibles, plants, garden items and photography will be for sale. This will be a great opportunity to pick up some one-of-a-kind items for your home and garden.

Price: Admission is free and items will be for sale at various prices.

Scotts Valley Library Anniversary Celebration and Book Sale

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday. Book sale will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Meet the Artist, cake and refreshments will take place from 2-4 p.m.

What: The Friends of the Scotts Valley Library will host a celebration in honor of the library’s first birthday. The celebration will showcase local artist Beth Allison Gripenstraw’s ‘Endangered Species’ sculpture collection, and includes a book sale to raise funds for the library’s back patio. Birthday cake and other refreshments will be served.

Price: Free

Community Poetry Circle

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 2-4 p.m.

What: Local poet/teacher Magdalena Montagne will be at the library leading a free writing workshop for the community. In the poetry
circle, students will write new works in a supportive and fun environment. All levels and ages are encouraged to attend.

Price: Free

 

Where/When: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, 400 Beach Street, Saturday, 5:30 p.m.

What: Santa Cruz’ hometown rocker is returning to the Boardwalk to perform during its summer kickoff weekend. He will perform songs with his new band from his recently released “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster” album, which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s rock chart and No. 36 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
