Get Out: Your Guide to What's Happening This Weekend

This weekend will bring plenty of Halloween fun, a harvest wine event and a football game not to be missed.

Scotts Valley-Santa Cruz Football

Where/When: Santa Cruz High School, 415 Walnut Ave. Friday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m.

What: The Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League looks like a three-horse race and two of the top contenders for the SCCAL crown, Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz, will meet up on Friday night for what is sure to be an exciting game. 

The Cardinals are currently 6-1 overall and 3-0 in league play. A monster meeting with Aptos falls on the calendar on Nov. 11 for the Cardinals, but the game won't have as much meaning if they can't get past Scotts Valley on Friday.

Scotts Valley has won back-to-back league games since dropping a road game by two touchdowns to Aptos on Oct. 8. The Falcons are 6-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Malone's 30th Annual Halloween Costume Party

Where/When: Malone’s Grille, 4402 Scotts Valley Dr. Saturday, Oct. 29, 10:30 p.m.

What: If you are looking for a great Halloween party close by, you can’t go wrong with heading out to Malone’s. The local restaurant and bar will have a costume contest with prizes for the best individual costume and best couple costume. There will also be a karaoke “The Monster Mash” and “Thriller” sing-off.

Price: Admission is free, food and drinks can be ordered from the menu.

Skov Winery Harvest Event

Where/When: Skov Winery, 2364 Bean Creek Road. Saturday, Oct. 29, noon-4:30 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley’s Skov Winery will celebrate the harvest season this weekend with great wines and live music from local musicians the Michael Gaither Band and others. People are invited to come out and bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the vineyard. The winery children will be selling water, soft drinks, cookies and bags of pretzels for only $1 each.

Price: Admission is free. There is a $5 tasting fee, which will be waived with wine purchase. Wine will be offered by the glass for $5 or by the bottles.

Scotts Valley Middle School Pasta Palooza Fundraiser

Where/When: Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road. Saturday, Oct. 29, 5 p.m.

What: The Scotts Valley Middle School PTA is hosting a pasta extravaganza, an all-you-can-eat dinner complete with pasta, salad, garlic bread and dessert to raise money for programs at the school. Everyone in the community is invited to this family-friendly event where there will also be a drawing for great prizes, along with three types of pasta and four sauces to choose from, donated by Santa Cruz Pasta Company.

Price: Dinner tickets are $20 per adult and $10 per child in advance. Tickets will be available at the door as well but will be slightly higher. Drawing tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 and winners don’t have to be present to win. To purchase dinner or drawing tickets in advance, visit www.svms.santacruz.ca.us.

Scotts Valley High School’s Ninth Annual Haunted House

Where/When: Scotts Valley High School, 555 Glenwood Drive. Now through Oct. 29, 7-11 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley High School students have transformed the school’s student union into a 20-room prison. Each room has a different ghoulish theme and attendees are sure to have a scary, yet fun experience. The haunted house is also a fundraiser and the students plan to donate all money from tickets sales to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of SVHS student Erik Murai.

Price: Ticket are $8.
