Rock Out For Scotts Valley Schools One Last Time

Summer concert series in Skypark to benefit the music programs in Scotts Valley schools comes to an end Sunday.

As the summer wraps up, so does the popular “Music in Skypark” series. Sunday will be the last show of the four-concert series dedicated to raising money for the music programs in Scotts Valley schools.

Sunday’s concert will feature headliner Le Stange, a long-running rock tribute band whose motto is “Rock. Pure Rock.” My Stupid Brother, featuring the pop rock of Ben Lomond’s George and Henry Chadwick and Tyler Raines will open the show.

The free concert series has run the last Sunday of the month throughout the summer. Approximately 900 people showed up for the August concert featuring Extra Large. All shows have benefited the music programs at Scotts Valley’s four public schools.

“We’ve lined up some terrific bands for this concert series,” said Joe Miller, one of the event organizers. “We hope people come hungry and support our concessionaires. Our aim is to raise a lot of money for the schools while providing a true family event for the community.”

The show is free but local service clubs and businesses will sell food, beer and wine to donate back to the schools.

According to the concert sponsors, the Scotts Valley Arts Commission and the Scotts Valley Kiwanis Foundation, the approximately $7,000 raised at last year’s concert series is credited with maintaining the music programs at the schools.

The concert is from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at Skypark, 361 Kings Village Dr.
