What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting

The Board will select a new president and vice president and review a draft resolution for an educational parcel tax.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The board is expected to consider the following items:

  • Tonight’s meeting is the last of the year and will be the Board’s annual organizational meeting. Trustees will select a new president and vice president, reapprove all current policies and accompanying administrative regulations, and appoint members to committees.
  • The Board will review and approve the 2011-12 First Interim Financial Report. Education Code requires that school districts submit the reports to the County Office of Education on or before Dec. 15 of each year. The report provides a comparison of the General Fund budget with the most current budget projections.
  • The Board will review and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement for Scotts Valley High School. The Single Plan for Achievement is required by the state and its purpose is to provide a “structured means to improve student academic performance.”
  • The Board will review a draft resolution proposing an educational parcel tax measure prior to adoption. The Board is considering putting the measure on a May or June 2012 ballot.
