What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting

The board will apply for an environmental education grant and go over financial reports.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. today at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The following items are on the agenda:

  • The board will decide whether to apply for a $40,000 grant for an environmental education program. The program is designed to provide professional development to teachers and help prepare students to become scientists, economists, and green technology leaders.
  • Resolutions, if approved, will support the Week Of The School Administrator and Arts Education Month.
  • Members will review two interim financial reports. The first has been given a positive certification by te Santa Cruz County Board of Education, which means that based on current projects, the district will meet its financial obligations for this fiscal year and the next two.
  • The Scotts Valley Jazz Band will give a short performance.  

The next school board meeting will be at 6 p.m. March 27. A strategic planning session is scheduled for March 23.
