FOOTBALL: Scotts Valley Stays Perfect

Falcons improve to 3-0 behind three touchdown night from Pasquini.

Behind three touchdown passes from senior quarterback Jack Pasquini, the Scotts Valley High football team defeated The King’s Academy 23-13 on Friday night at TKA in Sunnyvale.

The win avenged a loss to the Knights last September at Scotts Valley.

Pasquini connected with sophomore Joe Gillette on two of the three scores, including a 57-yard catch and run score to put Scotts Valley on the board late in the first quarter.

After a quick touchdown from the home team on the opening drive of the night, Scotts Valley answered with a touchdown to pull within one point.

Pasquini threw two more touchdowns in the second quarter, the first one to Gillette put his team into the lead at 13-7 midway through the first half.

Gillette was at it again on the final Falcons tally of the half, tight roping the sideline for a 30-yard score.

Scotts Valley led 20-7 at the halftime break.

The Knights nearly added six more points late in the first half before a key turnover in the end zone derailed the home team’s scoring hopes.

TKA added a late touchdown in the fourth quarter to pull within seven points, but a short field goal with 2:12 left in the fourth from senior kicker Noah Beito sealed the road team’s victory.

The Falcons passing attack led to all three offensive touchdowns in the win, but the ground game also played a key role.

Senior running back Colin Corbella carried the ball 20 times for 62 yards and junior Ari Wargon ran the ball five times for 47 yards on the night.
