Little League Roundup

A look back at the week's Little League games.

Majors Division

Rays 9, Reds 0

Logan Hudson was dominant for the Rays, fanning 17 en route to a 70-pitch complete game shutout while allowing only one hit and one walk.  Daniel Shamshoian three hits, a run and an RBI, Kyle Raymond was had two hits and scored twice, Reilly Merlo was 2-for-3 with a home run, walk and three RBIs, Hudson doubled and scored and John Sosa-Guiata doubled and singled and had an RBI. For the Reds, Tyler Renn pitched the first four complete innings and gave up just one run while strikingout seven, Nathan Meyers had an infield single and David Coates pitched the final frame for the Reds, striking out two.

AAA Division

Phillies 5, SLV Pirates 2

The Phillies' Jack Kastner hit a 2-run home run and Brendan Magee pitched a complete game as Kastner drove in four runs with 3 hits, Reese Gyllenhammer had a ground-rule double to left and Max Smith added two singles. Catcher Ben Lemus and second baseman Garrett Hormel each threw out runners at home. For the Pirates, starting pitcher Scotty MacCool fanned four and allowed no runs over his two innings of work and reached base all three times up, including on a single, and scored a run. Leadoff man Chris Anderson also singled and scored the Pirates' other run. Anderson pitched the last two innings of the game for the Pirates and struck out 4 batters.

Yankees 19 - Pirates 8

Yankees' pitchers Anthony Petrini and Arthur Soto struck out 10 between them, while Soto had four hits, Josh Booth had three and Weber Stemm added two doubles. The Pirates had fine pitching from Ambrose Johnson and Zane Fuller while Stephen Arun-Bellow and Jake Thorndlay had hits for the Pirates.
