Call for Entries: 'Best Apple Pie in Pajaro Valley'

The 36th Annual Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau Apple Pie Baking Contest is accepting entries until September 4th—that's Tuesday!

It's that time of year again! Time to hone your recipes for grandma's Apple Pie and get entered in the 36th Annual Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau Apple Pie Baking Contest.

Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, Sept. 4th, and the winners will be announced on the first day of the Santa Cruz County Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 11th. 

The contest, sponsored by the Pajaro Valley apple growers, shippers, and pie lovers througout Santa Cruz and Pajaro Valley counties is a much anticipated event, ever since it began in 1977.

The apple pie contest has three divisions, Juniors (17-years-old and under), Seniors (18 years-old and over), and Masters (anyone who has wone 1st and 2nd place in the Senior Division in past years.) 

Prizes are:

First Place: $45

Second Place: $35

Third Place: $25

and Best of Show: $45

And of course: bragging rights for "Best Apple Pie in Pajaro Valley"!

Entry forms can be picked up in the fair's premium book, located at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds Office, at 2601 East Lake Avenue, at the SCCFB at 141 Monte Vista Avenue in Watsonville or online at www.santacruzcountyfair.com.
