FIRST 5 SANTA CRUZ COUNTY NAMES DAVID BRODY AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

EXPERIENCED LEADER COMES FROM FIRST 5 SANTA CLARA COUNTY

CAPITOLA, CA — September 24, 2013 — First 5 Santa Cruz County, a major funder that invests in health, social services and early childhood programs that ensure young children enter kindergarten healthy, live in strong families and are able to reach their greatest potential in school and life, announced today that David Brody has been selected as the organization’s new executive director.

Mr. Brody will start in the position October 21, 2013. As executive director, he succeeds Susan True, who served as executive director for nine years before obtaining a Masters degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and accepting new positions leading the Bay Area Council's early childhood messaging campaign and the Kenneth Rainin Foundation's literacy initiative. The executive director of First 5 Santa Cruz County is responsible for the administration of nearly $3 million dollars in annual revenues from Proposition 10, the tobacco tax passed by the voters in 1998, and other local and state funding sources.
