Can't Miss: Music at Skypark Finale and More

Here's what's happening in and around Scotts Valley this weekend.

It's officially fall, but that doesn't mean the summer-like fun stops in Scotts Valley.

  • Enjoy a little sunshine on the last weekend of September by attending the last Music at Skypark event of the year. The Groove Hounds will open the show wit their one-of-a kind sound of rock and blues that will get folks out on the dance floor (lawn). Then the Coffis Brothers and The Mountain Men, a rock and roll band born and raised in the Santa Cruz Mountains will take the stage. The brother's blend of folk, blues, R&B and straight ahead rock are evidence of an upbringing spent listening to Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Beatles. The free show starts at 3:30 p.m. on the lawn at Skypark. There will be food vendors, wines from a local vineyard, beer and soft drinks. All profits from the concessions will be donated to the music programs at the four public schools in Scotts Valley.
  • If you're feeling fall's in the air, stop by the Tyrolean Inn in Ben Lomond for Oktoberfest this weekend. Get out your lederhosen or dirndl. There will be live music, scrumptious food, and as always, plenty of cold German Beer on tap all weekend. There also are kids' activities, including face painting and a bounce house. • See a local documentary. Imagine Supported Living Services is hosting its
2nd annual short film festival and fundraiser 6:30-930 p.m. Saturday at the Museum of Art and History at 705 Front St. in Santa Cruz. There will be 14 short films from community members that are by, about, with or connected to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Catch the Esoteric Collective show at the Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant and Inn. The drive up the coast is pleasant, and the music will be jazzy and family-friendly.
  • Scotts Valley artist Ruby Roxanne Designs will be featured at FashionART Santa Cruz, a showcase of designers Saturday evening at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz.
