I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and at the age of 10 moved to southern New Jersey. Life brought me to San Diego in the eighties, but five years ago, I arrived here, in Los Gatos.

For many years I worked in the printing industry and most recently, spent five years in database administration. Upon moving to Los Gatos though, I had the opportunity to be at home with my children.

Years ago my husband introduced me to a wine that was my "aha" wine moment and made me realize how special wine could be, but still, I was never fully paying attention to what I was drinking. Then, about two years ago, I formed a book club (or as my friend calls it: "a wine club with a book problem"). One book of choice was "The Billionaire's Vinegar" by Benjamin Wallace. This book gave me a new appreciation for wine and I wanted to learn more, perhaps, even be involved in the wine business. After some research, I decided to attend the Professional Culinary Institute in Campbell. (now The French Culinary Institute) I enrolled in the Court of Master Sommeliers Certified Sommelier training program. For three months, four to five hours a day, I was immersed in wine lectures, tastings, tests and service practice. I have always enjoyed wine in the past, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was an amateur, and this course was rigorous, demanding and stressful. There were a couple of times I thought of quitting; but, after three months, I passed the course! That was almost one year ago; and, even though I have passed this level of training, it has been very humbling and I realize that I have merely scratched the surface when it comes to learning about wine.

Today, I work for myself offering sommelier services and I also work part time with Testarossa Winery. When I'm not working, I enjoy time with my husband and four daughters.

I hope you enjoy learning with me and reading about my life's journey/adventures with wine, food and friends. Here's to finding that next great glass (or bottle) of wine and sharing it with friends. Cheers!
