Five Things Happening This Wednesday

Check out a Grammy Award winning musician or relax at Malone's for Wine-down Wednesday.

1. Do you have a student who would benefit from some structured homework time? Take advantage of the Scotts Valley Library Homework Center every Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Students, 17 and under are encouraged to attend this open session with access to the Internet, word processing, educational games, a printer and a scanner. There is a one-hour time limit for each of the five computer terminals available. For more information, contact the Scotts Valley Library.

2. Every Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Malone’s Grille hosts Wine-down Wednesday. Meet the winemakers, while partaking in unlimited wine tasting, food and live music, all for only $10. This week, Artesa Vineyards will be showcased.

3. High school students are welcome to participate in a Fuel gathering session at Gateway Bible Church. Worship and engage in teachings with other kids of the same age group. 4. Don Quixote’s International Music Hall, 6275 Hwy. 9 in Felton, hosts an evening with John Cruz, Grammy Award winner from Hawaii. Cruz has attracted attention from such renowned musicians as Jimmy Buffet, Lisa Loeb, Jack Johnson, Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. Cruz will be here for a one night only performance. Tickets are $15. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by a parent.

5. The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees is holding a special meeting tonight to hear the results of a community poll on how residents feel about a possible parcel tax to support local schools. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Scotts Valley High School’s Student Union Building, 555 Glenwood Drive. The Board will continue its discussion on the parcel tax issue at its next regular meeting on Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Drive.
