Why Go: The Scotts Valley High Falcons football team used its array of offensive weapons to top The King's Academy-Sunnyvale last Friday night, 23-13. Now a perfect 3-0 overall, the Falcons close out their non-league schedule on Friday at other tough peninsula foe, Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. at SHP. The Falcons open Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play a week later at Soquel High. The league home opener falls on Oct. 8 against Aptos High.

Why Go: The Center for Animal Protection and Education presents an evening with Ingrid Newkirk, president and co-founder of PETA. Newkirk will give a presentation addressing current animal issues followed by a Q & A. The evening also includes a delicious vegan dessert. 

Pricing: $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door and $10 for seniors and students. 

Where/When: Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass, Hollister. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 

Why Go: Join the villagers of Willingtown as they celebrate Bacchanal and the traditional feast of Michelmas. This weekend is a visual treat as garlands and masks are donned by men and women. Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask and/or garland. A beautiful selection of both can be found at the faire, or you may choose to have a mask painted on. Each weekend provides a new adventure at the annual faire. Don't miss out on all the mischief and fun to be had!
