SC County Red Cross Looking for Nominations for Hero Awards

Nominees are people who saved a life or attempted to save a life.

Know someone who performed an act or courage to save or attempt to save a life?

On May 15, the Red Cross Santa Cruz County will host its 2013 Heroes Breakfast and is looking for nominations.

The awards “recognize members of the local community who have shown courage, dedication, and character through acts of heroism and kindness. These people could be your neighbors, co-workers, friends, or family,” according to spokesperson Pooja Trivedi in a press release.

The categories include an Animal Rescue Hero, Education Hero, Good Samaritan, Law Enforcement Hero, Lifetime Achievement Hero, and Workplace Hero.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, March 8. The person must work or reside in Santa Cruz County, but the act does not have to have occurred in the County.

The Santa Cruz County Chapter has more details on its website, in addition to a nomination form.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
