Patch Picks: St. Patrick's Day Hot Spots

Here are some of Patch's Picks for St. Paddy's Day food and fun.

1. Malone’s Grille, 4402 Scotts Valley Dr., will put on a traditional Irish feast with all the fixings. Celebrate as Malone's hosts its 31st annual St. Patrick’s Day party. For $11.95, you can get corned beef and cabbage or your choice of a corned beef or Reuben sandwich. Green beer will be flowing, as will Irish coffee and Irish whiskey. The Roving Irish Quartet will perform from 5-7 p.m., followed by the band SPIGOT from 6-9 p.m. Green beads and blarney will abound. Reservations are suggested. 2. Rosie McCann’s Irish Pub, 1220 Pacific Ave. in Santa Cruz, will have you doing the Irish jig. For the early partygoers, doors open at 9:30 a.m. Innsfree will perform traditional Irish music from noon to 2 p.m., and from 4-6 p.m. bagpipes will be blowing with Celtic music. If you’re still looking for some more luck of the Irish, DJ Salatiel will start at 9 p.m. so you can keep on dancing all night long.

3. The Crow’s Nest, 2218 East Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz, will present The Wild Rovers and its repertoire of Irish drinking songs from 4:30-7 p.m. Yujii Tojo takes the stage at 7 p.m. The restaurant will serve Irish food and drink. Best of all, there is no cover charge.

4. The Crepe Place, 1134 Soquel Ave. in Santa Cruz, will host Tater Famine, a three-piece, folk-punk trio. Gavi Gallardo will also perform. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show starts at 9 p.m. There is an $8 cover charge.

5. If you want to contribute to a good cause while you celebrate, travel to the , 1007 Soquel Ave. in Santa Cruz, for the Leprechauns for Liberty benefit for military veterans. The ninth-annual event features a free buffet of corned beef, cabbage and boiled potatoes starting at 4 p.m. Attendees are asked to buy paper leprechauns, which are hung up behind the bar, for a $5-$20 donation.
