Patch Picks: Honoring Mom on Mother's Day

This week, Patch seeks out some of the best ways to honor mom on this special day.

1. The Felton Fire Auxiliary’s Annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast, 131 Kirby St., Felton, will be held this Sunday, 8 a.m.-noon, to honor area moms. Eggs, hash browns, French toast, sausage and coffee will also be on the menu. Proceeds will go to pay for fire equipment and toward training for Felton volunteers. 2. The Cocoanut Grove, 400 Beach St., Santa Cruz, will celebrate this Mother’s Day with a brunch spectacular. The menu includes unlimited champagne or Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider, carved prime rib, eggplant and artichoke parmesan, sea bass with orange chive cream, chicken and crimini mushroom crepes, smoked salmon and much more. Prices for adults are $33.95, children ages 4-12 are $12.95 and children under 3 are free. Reservations are recommended. 3. Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Highway 236, Boulder Creek, will celebrate the women of Big Basin with a half-mile stroll through the redwoods. This one and a half hour guided tour begins at 1 p.m. and will honor the women who lived and worked in Big Basin. 4. Bargetto Winery, 3535 N. Main St., Soquel, will celebrate mom this year with a brunch in the scenic creek side courtyard with live music, a gourmet brunch and spectacular wines. The menu will include chicken breast in a pomegranate brandy glaze, snapper with lemon caper butter sauce, grilled asparagus with a balsamic reduction, chocolate dipped strawberries and much more. Limited seating is available so reservations are recommended. Regular price is $53 per person. For wine club members, the cost is $50. For more information, call 831-475-2258.

5. The Cellar Door at Bonny Doon Vineyard, 328 Ingalls St., Santa Cruz, is hosting an elegant and approachable Mother’s Day brunch served from the farm and straight to the table.
