Felton Man Arrested for Capitola Market Robbery

A 27-year-old man allegedly held up a market in Bay Avenue late Wednesday, Capitola police reported.

Jacob John Hill of Felton was arrested as he drove away from Grady's Market around 11 p.m., police said.

An observant police officer is credited with making the bust.

Capitola police officer Ryan Farotte had been patrolling on Bay Avenue and noticed a man quickly walking away from the market with the hood of his black and white flannel pulled up, according to police.

Farotte went to the market, where an employee walked out and said an armed robber had just held up the store. The robber got away with cash, police reported.

Officers started searching the neighborhood. Farotte saw a Toyota truck leaving the area and pulled it over. Hill, a passenger in the truck, was questioned and arrested. Police said he had "evidence connected him to the robbery along with all of the stolen money."
