Scotts Valley Man Arraigned on Child Molestation Charges

David Escobar faces 47 different charges, including lewd acts with a minor and possessing child pornography.

The Scotts Valley man arrested for allegedly having sex with two teenage girls and possessing pornographic images of a third pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Tuesday morning.

David Paul Escobar, 42, waived his right to a speedy trial before Judge Ariadne Symons and his preliminary hearing date was set for June 4.

Escobar was originally arrested on March 21 by the Santa Cruz Police Department for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl. According to police, Escobar sent nearly 3,800 text messages to the Santa Cruz girl in one month and also communicated with her through Facebook and gaming networks. The SCPD said it also appears that Escobar arranged to meet the girl at her school during lunch on several occasions and would have sex with her in his car.
