Scotts Valley Man Arrested for Child Molestation Now Facing Charges for a Third Victim

Pictures of a 13-year-old third victim exhibiting sexual behavior were found on Escobar's computer.

The arraignment for the Scotts Valley man charged with having sex with two different teenage girls was postponed for a third time on Tuesday as prosecutors prepare to file additional charges stemming from pornographic images of a 13-year-old girl found in his possession.

Prosecutor Rafael Vazquez said that the investigation into 42-year-old David Escobar is still ongoing but he will be filing the new charges next week. Vazquez said that during the course of the investigation, photographs depicting the young girl exhibiting sexual behavior were found on Escobar’s computer.

“There was no sexual contact with this victim,” Vazquez said. “But we are looking at possible child pornography charges.”

Escobar was originally arrested on March 21 by the Santa Cruz Police Department for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl. According to police, Escobar sent nearly 3,800 text messages to the Santa Cruz girl in one month and also communicated with her through Facebook and gaming networks. The SCPD said it also appears that Escobar arranged to meet the girl at her school during lunch on several occasions and would have sex with her in his car.

After his arrest, a second teenage girl came forward and said that she was molested by Escobar when she was 16 and 17 years old.
