Scotts Valley Neighborhoods Mapped by Wealth

A new website shows the median income of neighborhoods in Scotts Valley.

Santa Cruz County ranks 14th of all California counties in median household income, thanks in large part to many residents of Scotts Valley.

Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks, a website that compiles American Community Survey data, has broken down every city in America by neighborhood and listed them all by average household income, and the results are quite interesting.

The site separates Scotts Valley into just three sections, the three census tracts that divide the city.

Census tract 1209, which is on the northwest side of Highway 17, has a median household income of $103,641. The area of Scotts Valley on the west side of 17 that includes Valley Garden Golf Course, census tract 1208, has a median household income of $91,447. Census Tract 1212, which includes the part of east of 17 near Baymonte Christian School, has a median household income of $110,990.

Middle class in California ranges between $53,000 to $67,000 according to the survey.

The Grumpy Little Bluebird is available through Ingram and Baker and Taylor to bookstores andRead More libraries. It can also be bought by the general public through Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com. I would really love to get into as many local and independent bookstores as possible. Sell sheet available upon request. Thank you!

There was an injury accident on southbound Highway 17 between Vine Hill and Granite Creek roads. ARead More silver SUV went over the side around 11:30 a.m. Two people were trapped in the vehicle, badly hurt and the car was smoking. One was taken by helicopter to a trauma center, the other by regular ambulance -- all according to emergency radio traffic. We'll try to have more on the crash from the CHP tomorrow.
