City to Host E-Waste Collection

Proceeds will benefit Rotary Club community programs and Scotts Valley recycling programs.

Do you have old electronics you need to get rid of? This weekend, the City of Scotts Valley and the Scotts Valley Rotary Club will be holding its 10th annual e-waste collection event to take that stuff off your hands.

Last year’s event collected over 20,000 pounds of electronics such as computers, monitors and television sets.

“These items are now banned from landfill disposal because of their hazardous material content of lead, mercury, and other heavy metals,” the city said in a press release. “This event insures that the items collected will be properly reused, recycled, and disposed and will not become a source of
pollution to rivers, streams and groundwater supplies.”
