Meet Your Neighbors and First Responders at National Night Out

Find your nearest crime-fighting block party using this interactive map.

National Night Out, a crime prevention event, is Tuesday evening and there are more than a dozen block party-like celebrations planned across Santa Cruz County.

Check out the map above to locate a National Night Out event near you.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals to let them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The Sheriff's Office, Captiola Police and Watsonville Police are organizing and hosting National Night Out events.

Most locations will have food, activities for kids and a chance to meet local law enforcement and firefighters, as well as your neighbors.

And Santa Cruz residents, don't feel left out of the fun. The Santa Cruz Police Department hosts a similar event—"Neighborhood Night Out"—at more than 60 locations throughout the city on Sept. 29.
