Law enforcement agents across Santa Cruz County are on the hunt for Jesse Warren Parsons, a man who was accidentally released from county jail on Friday, March 22.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, Parsons posed as another inmate who had a similar name and physical description who was set for release, and jail staff took the bait and set him free.
Parsons, 35, was arrested on March 20 on several outstanding warrants. His criminal history includes trespassing, petty theft, substance abuse, resisting arrest and domestic violence.
Sgt. Mitch Medina told Patch Monday that Parsons is still on the run.
He was last seen walking away from the jail at 259 Water St. in Santa Cruz. He is known to frequent campsites on the west side of town.
Parsons is six feet tall, 180 pounds and has brown hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a red plaid long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes at the time of his release.
He was listed in Patch's Fugitive Friday column for outstanding warrants back in April of 2012.
Anyone who sees Parsons has been asked to call 911.
