Wildland Fire Temporarily Shuts Down Southbound 17 at Mt. Hermon

Trees and brush were on fire off Highway 17 today.

A wildland fire temporarily shut down the southbound lanes of Highway 17 just south of Mt. Hermon Road Friday afternoon.

The brush fire, reported by several people around 1:10 p.m., was on the side of the hill off Highway 17 at Mt. Hermon Road, with several trees also on fire, according to emergency radio traffic.

The Scotts Valley Fire District was called out, and California Highway Patrol closed the southbound lanes for approximately 20 minutes. All lanes were reopened at 1:40 p.m.
