Lind and Johnson Take over as Mayor and Vice Mayor

Council votes unanimously to hand over reins to Lind and Johnson.

In what was a unanimous decision at Wednesday night’s city council meeting, Donna Lind and Randy Johnson were voted into the mayor and vice mayor positions respectively for the upcoming year.

Outgoing Mayor Dene Bustichi, who joked that the city was getting the better end of the deal with Lind, thanked the council and community before handing over the reins.

“This has been a great experience for me and it’s been a great privilege serving you,” Bustichi said.

Lind, a retired Scotts Valley Police sergeant who was elected to the council in 2008, said that she began her work with the city over 40 years ago taking minutes as a young secretary and that she was honored to have the chance to now serve the city as its mayor.

“It’s amazing to me to have come full circle,” Lind said. “I’m following in some pretty big shoes in following Mayor Bustichi, but I have some great council members with me and it’s just going to be an exciting year for me.”
