Wylie Withdraws From Fifth District Supervisor Race

SLV school board member cites personal reasons for his decision to step down.

George Wylie, a Fifth District supervisorial candidate, has withdrawn from the race.

Wylie, a San Lorenzo Valley School Board trustee, announced his decision on Feb. 29 citing personal reasons.

“It has been an exceptional experience over the last few months connecting with members of our community and discussing the issues that are important to them,” Wylie said in a press release. “However, after careful deliberation I’ve decided to suspend my campaign.”

Wylie, a retired Navy pilot said at his campaign that reversing the cycle of budget cuts plaguing area schools and filling the void left by the defunct county redevelopment agency would be at the top his list of priorities if elected.

Wylie was one of five people seeking to replace Supervisor Mark Stone, who is running for California State Assembly. The remaining candidates include Bill Smallman, Eric Hammer, Susan Weber and Bruce McPherson.
