Get Out: Your Guide to a Great Weekend

Catch the last weekend of 'Grease' at the high school, attend the grand opening of Scotts Valley's newest boutique or buy some local art for mom this weekend.

Where/When: Scotts Valley High School Student Union, 555 Glenwood Dr. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

What: The SVHS drama department is staging the classic musical “Grease.” The production is the drama department’s spring musical and boasts a cast of 47 and a crew of over 25, one of the largest ever to put on a show at the school. The show is set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School and will include songs such as “Greased Lightnin,’” “Summer Nights,” “Born to Hand Jive,” and “We Go Together.”

Price: Tickets are $12 general admission and $10 students, and are available at the door or online at www.showtix4u.com

Scotts Valley Artisans Mother’s Day Eve Arts & Crafts Fair

Where/When: Scotts Valley Artisans, 2230 Mt. Hermon Rd. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley Artisans is a non-profit community art center featuring the work of over 150 Santa Cruz County artists. The Mother’s Day Eve Fair will feature those artists selling one-of-a-kind gifts just for mom. The event will also include demos by the artists and live music.

Price: Admission is free. Art works will be available at various prices.

Where/When: Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 6 p.m.

What: The Scotts Valley Kiwanis are throwing a fiesta to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and you’re invited. The dinner dance party is a fundraiser for the club and will include Mexican food catered by Scotts Valley’s Los Gallos Restaurant, entertainment by UCSC Mexican Folkloric dancers, a raffle and live auction, a no host bar and dancing.

Price: Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under, and include dinner, one raffle ticket and a choice of one wine, beer or soft drink.

Where/When: , 222 Mt. Hermon Rd. Saturday, 5 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley’s newest business will be holding its grand-opening celebration with opportunities to meet with the artists who sell at the boutique, refreshments and a raffle. Fuse is a clothing consignment and gift boutique that sells clothing and accessories for men and women and artwork by local artists.

Price: Admission is free. Items will be for sale at various prices.

Where/When: Louden Nelson Community Center, 301 Center St., Santa Cruz. Friday, 7 p.m. and Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m.

What: All About Theatre, a community-theater company serving Santa Cruz County, will be staging “Beauty and the Beast” with its talented youth performers. The young thespians, between the ages of 8 and 13, hail from all over the county. They will transport the audience to the heart of provincial France as they tell the classic story of Belle and her taming of the Beast.

Price: Tickets are $12 for students/seniors, $16 for general admission and $20 for reserved seating. They can be purchased online at www.allabouttheatre.org, at the door, or at the ticket outlet at Petroglyph, 125 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz.
