Grant Will Aid Scotts Valley High Students in Applying to College

The Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant will be available in March 2013, and is currently seeking donations.

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation announced Thursday the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant, which aids Scotts Valley High students planning on applying to college.

Applications will be available beginning March 2013, with the first recipients announced May 2013, according to Allison Niday, president of the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation.

The grant is geared towards providing professional assistance to students applying for a two or four year college or university. It will also assist students with SAT/ACT preparation.

It was created in the honor and memory of Lynn Beebe, who was a longtime staff member at Scotts Valley Middle School. Also a former star basketball played, Beebe died in January at the age of 47 after a three-year battle with breast cancer.

For more information about the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation, including information where to send donations, visit the organization’s website at www.svef.net, said Niday.

Donations should be made to SVEF, noting Lynn Beebe in the subject line.  Secure donations can also be made via the website.
