What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting

Trustees will hear information on the 2012-13 General Fund Revenue Projections and an update on the district's technology services.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The board is expected to consider the following items:

  • The Board will accept information on the Special Education Verification Review that the district was selected to participate in by the California Department of Education.
  • The Board will accept information on the Special Education Programs in the district. The district currently serves approximately 215 special education students through various programs.
  • The district’s director of technology, Carl Guerin, will provide the Board with an update on the district’s technology services, programs and goals.
  • The Board will receive information on the Cotsen Foundation Grant Implementation at Vine Hill Elementary. The school was selected for the Cotsen Foundation ART of TEACHING program, which is a mentoring program designed for teachers that are often ignored by the school system because they are so effective and do not require intervention. It works with those who already have the most potential to become the very best in their profession.
  • The Board will hear a report from the district’s chief business director, Vickie Clark, on the 2012-2013 General Fund Revenue Projections for the district. School districts receive their revenues from a combination of federal, state and local sources and each revenue stream is subject to a unique formula that may be ongoing or a one-time thing.
