What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting

Trustees to discuss and possibly approve next year's SVUSD budget.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The board is expected to consider the following items:

  • The board will hear public comments on state categorical funds and implementing categorical flexibility. To offset the ongoing revenue limit reductions, SB X34 allows school districts to transfer categorical funds for educational purposes. After the public hearing, the board will vote on implementing categorical flexibility.
  • The board will hear public comments on the SVUSD 2011-2012 preliminary budget. Board members will then vote on the budget’s approval.
  • The board will also vote on adopting a resolution authorizing temporary borrowings between fund balances of the district, meaning temporary cash loans may be made between funds of the district to address cash flow shortages.
